About LogBurnerCost
We exist for one reason: most UK log burner cost guides give you a corporate median that's useless for your specific scenario. This site gives you the actual range, with the calculator showing how each variable changes the number.
What we are
LogBurnerCost is an independent UK consumer guide and cost calculator covering log burner / wood burner / wood burning stove installation in 2026. We aggregate installer-published rates, lived owner experience from r/DIYUK, r/HousingUK, and UK Facebook log burner groups, and current regulatory guidance from HETAS and DEFRA.
We are not affiliated with any stove manufacturer, retailer, or installer. We do not take payment for product placement or recommendations. We earn revenue through:
- Lead matching — when a user requests quotes via our installer matching service, we may charge HETAS-registered installers a flat fee per qualified lead. The installer identity has no bearing on our editorial recommendations.
- Amazon UK affiliate— on accessory pages, we link to Amazon UK products. We earn a small commission when you buy via those links. The price you pay doesn't change. We only link to products we've identified as genuinely well-reviewed.
How the cost data is sourced
Every cost figure on this site traces back to one of:
- UK installer-published rate cardsfrom Checkatrade, BookABuilder UK, MyJobQuote, Salamander Stoves, Stovefitter's Warehouse, Bonfire, Murray & McGregor, Flamecrafters, and Flue-pipes.com.
- Real installer quotes shared in r/DIYUK, r/HousingUK, and UK Facebook log burner community posts (anonymised; original threads cited inline).
- Manufacturer RRPs from Charnwood, Stovax, Hunter, Arada/Aarrow, Clearview, Morsø, Jøtul, Contura, and Esse direct.
- HETAS published rates for certification, registration fees, and replacement certificates.
- UK government publications from gov.uk, DEFRA, the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), and the Stove Industry Association (SIA).
The calculator is calibrated quarterly — we re-survey published rates and update the formula constants whenever the underlying UK market data shifts.
How accurate is the calculator?
We target ±20% accuracy versus real installer quotes. The calculator returns a banded estimate (low / mid / high) rather than a point estimate — that's deliberate. UK log burner installs vary materially based on factors we can't see from a postcode (chimney condition, structural complications, installer market dynamics in your area). The band reflects that reality.
If your real quote comes back significantly outside our estimated range, we'd like to know about it — please email hello@logburnercost.co.uk with the scenario details and we'll use the data to recalibrate. We don't share your details with anyone.
Editorial standards
- Show the range, not the median. Variance matters more than averages for UK log burner pricing.
- Cite primary sources. Where a regulatory or compliance claim is made, we link to the gov.uk, HETAS, or DEFRA source.
- Surface inconvenient facts. The Clearview OPSS Stop Notice context is covered in full on the Clearview brand page because UK buyers can't make an informed decision without it.
- Refresh quarterly. UK installer rates and stove RRPs change. Pages are re-reviewed every 90 days; older pages display the last-reviewed date.
- No paid placement. Brand recommendations are based on warranty, regulatory position, owner sentiment, and dealer support — never on what manufacturers offer in commercial terms.
